From Luverne, MN to Pleasant Prairie, WI

Today was an easier day. More miles than yesterday but we were able to get to our destination for the evening before 10pm!

Southern Minnesota is flat and boring ...

So the first few hours passed slooowwlllyyy until we reached the mid-point of I-90

And stopped for lunch after we reached Wisconsin. Had to have cheese curds

The scenery in Wisconsin was much prettier. Some rolling hills and trees along side barns and a few cows

We made a quick stop in Sparta, WI for a custard from Culver's - Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup!

From Renton to Butte!

We left Renton, WA bright and early this morning and headed East! And the car is loaded! Here's the backseat with my new cooler or "Shore bag" thanks to my former co-worker. She loaded it up with La Croix, SmartPop, pretzels, chocolate and other goodies.

The drive is going well - we've stopped at every Rest Stop ... once you read "Next Rest Stop in 68 Miles," you have to stop! But we're still making good time. I guess it helps that the speed limit is 80! in Montana. We picked up a lot of gross hitch-hikers πŸ›πŸ˜and gassed up twice.

Lunch was a fantastic grilled caprese sandwich in Coeur d'Alene, ID with house-made chips and salad. The sweet mint iced tea was ... interesting. Very sweet and slightly minty. Refreshing once the sugar taste subsided.

Montana is beautiful - lots of mountains, trees, cows and sheep! I tried to get some pictures from the car window but they don't really do it justice ...

We listened to the  "S*town" podcast and got sucked into the story - we're on episode 5 ... can't wait for what happens tomorrow :)

Stats for the day:

  • States: 3 (Washington, Idaho, Montana)
  • Miles driven: 593
  • Hours in the car: 9
  • Rest Stop breaks: too many to count

The Roo Has a New Doo ...

The prepping has begun. We've installed a roof rack on the Roo. So cute ... or tough? Depends on who you ask. I always think the Roo is adorbs but Travis thinks this makes her look tough and burly.

In order to haul some of my crap precious, can't live without, necessary items, I need additional space and my Roo can't tow anything so we've decided to get at cargo box. Hence the roof rack so I can attach it to the Roo. Travis tells me that the cargo box will hold boxes all the way up to 13"x 13" x 13"  ... 😲what the heck am I going to put in a 13" box? A few t-shirts and socks! Ugh ... packing sucks is horrible πŸ‘Ž

I went through nine boxes of books and paperwork - some of it was from college ... tell me why did I keep my notes from History of World Religions? It was a great class but seriously - why keep the notes for over 20 years? I guess I'm move of a pack rat than I thought. One long weekend later I narrowed it all down to one box. No ... I didn't keep the notes or any college paperwork.

Now I'm on to clothes. This has been a much harder process. If I let something go, I'm sure I'll need it. Travis says just replace it if I really need it. I don't know ... he's probably right ... there will be stores there and I do love shopping! πŸ’²πŸ›πŸ™‹
